Dear Friends,

As you all probably know, my grandmother, Juanita Stamp Collins, died on Friday, April 25th. I was in West Virginia with my parents for her funeral and services from the 26th through Wednesday, April 30th. Many thanks to Father Tom Pipp, S.J., president of St. John Jesuit High School, who was here for 5:30, 8:00 & 10:00 AM Mass on Sunday, April 27th. Thanks also to Father Michael Dandurand, who presided at the noon Mass that day.
Most of all, please know how much my family and I deeply appreciate all of your prayers and words of condolence. Please keep my mother in your prayers as she settles my grandmother’s estate.
On a happier note, congratulations to all of our little people who received Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the very first time last weekend. There is nothing I have ever seen that shows how powerful God is in Holy Communion, than the faces of children receiving their First Communion. I hope that those wonderful Masses will inspire all of us to commit ourselves to regularly receiving the best of all spiritual food!
This weekend we celebrate the birth of the Church. Through the Feast of Pentecost. As we remember the day that God poured His Holy Spirit upon the frightened apostles, we ask God this weekend to bathe our parish and our Church with His Holy Spirit. May the gifts of the Holy Spirit help us to speak each other’s languages and give us the courage to spread the good news of all that God does for those who follow Him.
This weekend is also Mother’s Day. To help celebrate this national holiday we will be blessing and distributing medals and prayer cards in honor of our heavenly mother, Mary. May we all give thanks to God this weekend for the gift of our earthly mothers and the saving power of our heavenly one.

Peace,
Fr. Mark
