Letter from the Pastor

Dear Friends in Christ,

Many thanks to the entire parish for your prayers and support for our school during last weekend’s kickoff to Catholic Schools Week and Open House. We had many families show interest in our school and many more people join us for tours and fellowship. Special thanks to Shelly Leestma, the Parent Association, School Council, and the many volunteers who helped make our Open House so welcoming and successful.

This Saturday evening, our new Junior High Youth Group F.I.A.T. (Faith in Action Team) is sponsoring our annual Rock-a-Thon to raise money for the B.G. Pregnancy Center’s purchase of a new Ultra-Sound machine. Students from our Religious Education Program and school in the 5th through 8th grade will be sponsored to “rock” in rocking chairs to raise money, to learn about the B.G. Pregnancy Center, and to have fun. Please see elsewhere in this bulletin or call the school office if you would like to contribute toward this worthy cause.

Please find in the bulletin an important letter from Bishop Blair which explains the recent threats upon our religious liberties as Catholics in regards to healthcare coverage mandates from the Federal Government. Please read the bishops letter and let us do all that we can through prayer and action to have this unjust law overturned.

This past Friday was the feast of St. Blaise. We will offer the blessing of throats after all of the weekend Masses this weekend.

Have a great and prayer-filled week,

Fr. Mark
