CYO Cross Country Program

Cross CountryCross Country is open to girls & boys, K through 8th grade. Registration is held in April. Practices start in late August and 5 meets are held on Saturdays, September through mid-October.

The team typically practices twice a week. The program is designed to teach the runners the fundamentals, all skill levels are welcome. CYO cross country provides a unique opportunity to compete both as an individual and as a team. The coaching staff is made up of college students and parents.

Informal Fun Runs are held in the summer.

2011 Season

Northwest Ohio Diocesan Championship Meet at Maumee Bay State Park

The St. Aloysius Lions Cross Country teams finished their very successful season at the Northwest Ohio Diocesan championship meet at Maumee Bay State Park. The Junior Girls and Pee Wee girls teams both won trophies for finishing in fourth place out of the 33 teams in the region. Over 1200 participants competed at the championships.

The St Aloysius Cross Country team competed in the University of Toledo Scott Park Invitational. There were over 1150 participants from 36 teams. The Junior Girls had there best finish of the year finishing as the third place team. Runners places and times are listed below.

BG Montesorri Cross Country Invitational Sept 22, 2011

The 5th and 6th graders ran a 1 mile race. For the girls, Elizabeth Heffernan was a medalist taking 8th place. Avery Lewis had a strong finish at 20th place in the 29 girl field. For the boys Zach Applegate won the 2nd place trophy. Sam Scherer (5th place) and Sam Berry (7th place) were medalists. Gryffin Sader was 26th and Will Rippey was 28th in he 33 boy field.

The 3rd and 4th graders ran a 1/2 mile race. Madeline Berry was the girls champion finishing in 1st place. Carlin Pendell won the 2nd place trophy. Josie Genson (8th) Kaitlyn Applegate (11th), and Lauren Deutschman (15th) also won medals. Emma Martin (21st), Sydney DeLeon (27th), and Ellie Boyle (28th) also had strong finished in the 33 girl field. For the boys Zach Crawford won the 7th place medal and Peter Eigner (20th) and Isaac Brewster (26th) also had great finishes in the 41 boy field.

The Kindergarten to 2nd grade team was lead by Zach Madaras (6th), Gavin Sudlow (8th), Alex Lewis (9th) who all won medals for their team. Zach Thomas (16th), Isaiah Gladden (18th), Isaac Gladden (20th) Joe Brewster (27th), Jack Dunn (29th), Joey Boyle (34th), Brendan Teiken (37th) also did well in the 47 boy field. For the girls Ellie Eigner won the 2nd place trophy and Hannah Judson (7th), Ayla Weinandy (8th) and Annika Pendell (14th) won medals for their team. Other top finishers were Riley Cramer (17th), Mackenzie Holman (20th), Marissa Holman (21st), Elayna Crawford (23rd), Kate Eigner (25th), Barbara Scherer (34th), Nicole Fite (38th), Jennifer Fite (40th), Alexandra DeLeon (50th), Rose Whitman (51st) and Anna Deutschman (53rd) in the 53 girl field.
