JOHN 10:14-17
I am the good shepherd,
and I know mine and mine know me,
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father;
and I will lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold.
These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice,
and there will be one flock, one shepherd.
With the Lenten Season behind us, the time to
rejoice the Easter Season is now. Each day we get closer to the warmer
weather and start to go back outside and work in the yard. The daylight
is getting longer means more time for walks and other activities. This
could be a good time for a family trip for ice cream. Each year the
Knights treat the Alter Servers to some ice cream to show them our
appreciation for the work they do for the Church. Join us on April 22
(Tuesday) for some ice cream at D.Q. on Wooster St. for some fun.
A few weeks ago several Knights got together for a
progressive dinner. Thanks to the Goodenows, Winslows, and Michaelis for
using their homes to enjoy different courses of the meals. The food was
great and so was the company. It looked like every one had a good time.
Thanks again.
The year is quickly winding down and we could
still add some new guys to the council. The life blood of any
organization is membership. Many council members' hands make short work
of the many projects we host and conduct. Remember, a Knight once asked
you to join. Please make an effort to ask a Catholic gentleman from St.
Aloysius, or St. Tom's
Every Catholic Gentleman should be asked!
This was Father McGivney's goal, this should be OUR GOAL.
The 2008 SUPER CASH BONANZA CHARITY CAMPAIGN
is now into the second month. I still have extra tickets and can get you
more at the next meeting, April 14th. We have till the 15th. for the
first turn in of sold tickets. There is lots of cash to be won! This
campaign is to help fund the Ohio State Council Knights of Columbus Ohio
Charities Foundation. The ticket is much more colorful than in the past,
and each ticket is now worth $5.00 instead of the old 6 tickets for
$5.00 books in past years. Please if you have any tickets that I gave to
you and they are unsold, please return the money and any unsold tickets
back to me (John McAvoy). Again the first turn in is April 15th. The
more money we turn in on the first the more our council gets back from
State to use as we wish. Please send a check made out to K of C. and
send it to my home address is 431 W. Poe Rd. B.G. The 1st Degree is
about Charity. The Super Cash Bonanza sponsors the State Charities and
there is rebate money for our Council's Charities. Our Council goal is
five (5) 5 tickets per Knight. Have fun and sell tickets to your
friends.
Measure-Up 2008, needs your help on the
weekend of May,1-3. This year we will be able to stand in front of
Krogers, and Walmart I'm still working on getting Walgreens to help. So
far I haven't had anyone come forward to run this activity. This is an
activity for the entire family to participate. One or two could do the
job of calling people to schedule time at the stores and to collect the
money at different times. Call me or come to the meeting on Monday the
14th if you can help. If no ones comes to help out it won't happen.
Money raised will be given to Wood Lane School.
Soon the Trustees of Council 6373 will be
looking for a "Few Good Men." They are selecting a slate of
candidates for Officers for Council #6373 for the 2008-09 year. If you
are interested in any of the positions in our Council, please contact
Wayne Michaelis, Steve Benner, Phil Avina or John McAvoy.
Many, many thanks to all the Knights, their
wives, and volunteers who helped with our three fish fries. Thanks to
many hands who were able to help and for those great desserts. Although
it may seem that the numbers were down this year, I think it was a
success.
