The Finance Council is an advisory body of nine parishioners who meet monthly to assist the pastor in the stewardship of parish finances. The members review financial statements of the church and school, discuss funding of future needs of the parish, and monitor capital projects.
The St. Aloysius School Council consists of the Pastor, Principal, and members of the parish and school community. Its purpose is to help provide a quality education in a Christian environment. Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Meetings include reports from the Pastor and Principal on the operations and activities of the school, discussion of policies and procedures, financial and marketing reports, and reports from the Parent Association. The council provides a forum for anyone from the parish or school community to be heard: Contact the council president before the meeting to be included in the agenda. The most important part f the councils mission is to provide for the future needs of our school through an ongoing strategic planning process. Annual elections are held in May for new members.
The Liturgy Committee is made up of representatives from all of the ministries which deal with the Mass, such as eucharistic ministers, lectors, ushers, music, art and environment, as well as anyone at large from the parish who wishes to attend. The committee concerns itself with planning all liturgies, both regular and special, as well as keeping current on changes within the liturgical realm. Anyone involved in any of the above liturgical ministries or simply interested in helping with decorating for special liturgies should come to the liturgy committee meetings which are normally held on thew last Monday of the month in Room 202.
The St. Aloysius Parish School of Religion (also called the CCD Program - Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) exists to teach the fundamentals of the Catholic faith to our parish children who do not attend Catholic school, and to support their parents/guardians in providing faith experiences within the tradition of the Catholic Church. The pastor, director, and teachers seek to promote a religious learning environment within the context of the Mass and sacraments, which are our common faith experiences, so the children may come to know, love, and serve God. Grades 1-8 meet Wednesday evenings from 7-8 PM, mid-September through early May. Volunteer teachers willing to be trained are always needed.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process in which an adult participates to become a member of the Catholic Church. Generally, the process lasts from September through April with the person being received into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Class meets weekly for one and a half hours, at which time the basics of Catholicism and Christianity are taught. In addition to the individuals preparing to enter the Church, there is a team of individuals who assist in teaching the classes, as well as members of the parish who serve as sponsors for the individuals preparing to join the Church. Parishioners who are interested in serving as a sponsor or on the team are always welcome to join us.
The Youth Ministry program blends social activity, community awareness, spiritual enrichment, and personal growth opportunities for Senior High youth. Social events include a wide variety of activities such as concerts, skiing, or bowling. Service activities to build community awareness include local activities such as meals or transportation for homebound parishioners, as well as a yearly service trip to an economically depressed area. Spiritual enrichment happens at many levels, including an emphasis on prayer, opportunities for retreats, diocesan gatherings, TEC, and other faith-building activities, as well as opportunities for study in many areas through the High School Formation class. Interested youth may attend fellowship time at the church the first Wednesday of the month. Junior High youth have an opportunity for a monthly social activity.
Adult Formation provides opportunities to deepen our knowledge and awareness of the Catholic Faith, by bringing in guest speakers to talk on various topics, meeting in small discussion groups to share our faith, and through adult education classes. Through our learning about Jesus Christ and His Church, we seek to grow closer to Him through the sacraments and build the Kingdom of God.
