Marriage Encounter is a weekend experience providing couples with an opportunity to look deeper into themselves, their relationship with each other, and with God. It is an enrichment experience designed for couples with good marriages who want "great" marriages.
Retrouvaille (pronounced "retro-vi") is an international Christian program in the Toledo Diocese which offers help to couples who live in the disappointment and pain of a troubled marriage. It addresses the needs of hurting couples directly, and it offers a way for them to begin putting their marriage back in order.
Outreach Ministry includes the Migrant Ministry, the community-at-large, other faiths, etc. It serves as a liaison with Rural Opportunities, Health and Human Services Department of Wood County, MR/DD of Wood County, etc. Acquaintance with the Spanish language is helpful. A goal of this ministry is the formation of friendly relations with the Muslim community in Wood County with the eventual implementation of a Community Thanksgiving Service.
The mission of the St. Vincent DePaul Society is "to seek and find the forgotten..." and administer direct aid to those who lack food, shelter or other necessities for their dignity and survival. We serve anyone who comes to our door and no one leaves with empty hands. Our membership at St. Aloysius is approximately twelve parishioners. At the intake of food for our pantry we call upon the entire parish to help with sorting and storage. At Christmas we distribute approximately thirty food baskets and again, we need everyone in the parish to support the effort. Meetings are the second Monday of each month at 7:45 PM in Room 202, and all are welcome to come.
Four area Nursing Homes are visited on a regular basis by Eucharistic Ministers who take Holy Communion to the Catholic residents. Bowling Green Manor, Otterbein Portage Valley, Wood County Nursing Home, and Community Nursing Home are each visited by volunteers who lead Communion services, pray the Rosary, and visit with the residents. No training is required- just a loving heart and a little time to spare.
A Birthday Party is held the second Tuesday of each month for residents at Wood County Nursing Home. Music, ice cream, and birthday cupcakes are featured in the Activities Room at the nursing home.
