THE MINISTRIES OF ST ALOYSIUS
ST. ALOYSIUS PASTORAL COUNCIL
St. Aloysius Pastoral Council is looking for
potential members for this important ministry to our parish. One
becomes a member of the Pastoral Council, not by a parish vote, but by
discerning with the other members of the Council whether or not this is
his or her calling.
The Pastoral Council is
meant for those who are willing to dream about what our parish could
become, and then to have their dreams honed, as the members together
seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. To do this, the PC spends a
significant part of time at each meeting in faith sharing and shared
prayer to help carry out the responsibility of giving counsel to the
pastor in visioning the right direction for our parish. It has a
very important function in helping to decide what the priorities of our
parish should be.
If you think that God may be
calling you to help with the parish vision, so that we may follow Jesus
more effectively, the best way for you to discern this is for you to
attend a meeting or two. Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, June
29 at Father Mark’s home (324 Clough), and Tuesday, August 24 in Clare
Hall. All meetings are at 7:30 p.m. If you are interested
please call Kay Heffernan or Father Mark at 419-352-4915.
If the Spirit leads you to this ministry, you will be asked to make a
commitment in September to serve for three years. It usually
takes a year to grasp more fully what our parish is about and to grow
together in developing a community which can dream together.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL FOLLOW UP
“The Midnight Knocker” is the name we gave a Gospel story, (Luke 11:1-13) at Sonquest Rainforest Vacation Bible School this summer when we used it to teach about the importance of persistence in prayer. If your child attended our Bible School, ask them if they remember the story of the man who needed to ask his neighbor for help to feed his friend and that we need to “Get PRAYING!” if we want God to hear us. Sing together “Pray!” from the VBS CD and think about how comforting those words can be: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6-7).
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Has your child missed having Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 10am Mass? We are in need of more ministers for this important ministry to our young children. We hope to get enough ministers so that you only need to serve 3 times per year for 2 weeks. We will pair you with an experienced minister to train you. Please contact Jean at the parish office 419-352-4195 or religioused@stalbg.org if you are interested.
REGISTRATION FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Registration for our Wednesday evening Religious Education program is on-going throughout the summer. Please pick up a registration form at the doors of church or print one from our parish website - and mail it in or drop it in the Sunday collection. Registration fee is $60/family plus $10/child in sacramental prep classes. Contact Jean Bargiel if you have questions.
ADORATION
We are in need of people to sit with our Lord during Holy Hours on Saturday mornings from 7 - 8 AM. When holy hours are over we need you to put away the monstrance and lock up Clare Hall Chapel for us. We are hoping for volunteers to take one month time slots. If you are interested please contact Doris Desmond or email Sharon at parishoffice@stalbg.org.
GREETERS
Are you looking for a
way to be more a part of St. Aloysius? Would you like to feel
more a part of the family of the church? Would you like to work
together as a family? We have a terrific opportunity for
you. We are looking for families or individuals or couples to
greet people coming into the church for weekend mass. What could
be easier? And, you might be surprised how many people you
actually recognize. All we need is your name(s), phone numbers
and preferred mass time and we’ll call you to set up your time
slot. Also, this could be a great way to accumulate confirmation
volunteer credit. Please email Julie Kisor at bgkisors@verizon.net with your information.
LECTORS & EMHC
Are you interested in serving your parish as a Lector or as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC)? The heart of liturgical ministry is a desire to share Christ with the community.
EMHC’s
serve at Sunday Masses, Communion Services and by bringing Jesus to
people in hospitals, nursing homes and their own homes. EMHC’s
must be 16 years old and have a love and reverence for Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament. Training will be on Monday, April 26 at 7
PM. Please contact Sharon in the parish office at
419-352-4195 or e-mail parishoffice@stalbg.org if you are interested.
