PARISH PLANNING TEAM Mtg. #2

On Monday, February 2, the second meeting of the Parish Planning Team (PPT) was held at St. Aloysius Parish. All participants worked in their Planning Area which was facilitated by the Parish Development Core Team. PPT Planning Areas include: A) Liturgy & Worship, B) Outreach & Evangelization, C) Stewardship & Development, D) Faith Formation, E) Parish Life, F) Administration & Finance.

Each Planning Area worked on the following items during the meeting:

  • Case Questionnaire (results below)
  • Clarification of the Planning Area
  • Mission Statement examination
  • SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) of the Planning Area

The third meeting of the Parish Planning Team (PPT) was held on Monday, March 2. Each Planning Area worked on the following:

  • Edit SWOT of the Planning Area
  • Mission Statement examination/edit
  • Purpose Statement for the Planning Area
  • Begin to identify and formulate Planning Area Challenges

Case Questionnaire 

One of the first “homework” assignments for the Parish Planning Team was to complete a two-page Case Questionnaire to gather attitudinal data about St. Aloysius Parish. The following are some of the comments that were given to the questions asked (the number indicates the number of times an answer was given):

  1. What most impresses you about St. Aloysius Parish?
    • Priests/Deacons – 10
    • Welcoming atmosphere – 7
    • Beautiful building – 5
    • Music/choir – 4
  2. What is your future vision for this parish in the next 1-5 years?
    • Gathering space – 7
    • Increase attendance at Mass – 3
    • Building a new gym – 2
    • Get more parishioners involved – 2
    • Youth Mass/special Mass for teens – 2
    • More youth involvement – 2
    • Better outreach to all – 2
  3.  What differences have you noticed in the past 1-5 years?
    • Fr. Mark is more open & welcomes input – 5
    •  Priests – 3
    • Physical improvements in grounds, parish center, rectory, and etc. – 3
  4. What needs must be addressed?
    •  Meeting/gathering space – 6  
    • Air conditioning – 5
    • Renovate interior of church – 5
    •  Enrollment increase – 3
    • More welcoming to new parishioners – 3
